Meet The Teacher: Ms Diez

Updated: Nov 16, 2021

What did you study, where and why? I studied astrophysics in UCL, because it’s what I like. I love Physics, Maths and space.

Why did you decide to move to Spain and apply to Runnymede? I’ve been in Spain for 10 years now. I came here after I spent three years working in banking after university. After that, I changed to teaching and applied to Runnymede because it’s one of the best schools in Madrid.

What are your first impressions? So far I’ve found it a great school and everyone is really nice.

Do you speak Spanish or any other languages? I do. I speak both Spanish and English as my parents are Spanish but I’ve always lived in England.

Where have you visited so far and what are your plans for half term? As I’ve been here for 10 years now, I’ve travelled all over Spain. However, for half term I’m planning on having a calm holiday in Madrid because I have a 1 year old baby and I want to spend time with him and my family.

Getting personal now - tell us about yourself- what are your hobbies? I love to spend time with my baby, which is a bit time-consuming but I also love doing yoga.

Recommend a book, podcast, documentary, series, film, theatre show or event that we should read, watch or attend. I recently saw a movie called 1917 that I strongly recommend to Runnymede Times readers.

Who do you follow on social media and why? I don’t really use social media as I’ve never felt the need to. I don’t think it’s something necessary in someone’s life and I’m pretty good without it.

Let’s not forget about the environment - what’s your top tip for a greener more sustainable world? I recommend not using plastic bags and changing to a more sustainable alternative instead. I’ve already switched to this myself!
